modern game console versus traditional outdoor games..

i was in my cousin's home just few hours ago.scanning all over his rooms (not for any bad intention) and all that, and not after a moments spending time and chatting along with all my relatives my view catches this two young boys within the 2-3 meters range from the television was playing a current game console and out of sudden i began to remembering the glory era our our Malaysian traditional games.

yes i know the difference between these two  opposition games that have such huge gap and is too much to talk about. but,we will be regret later on to discover our traditional values especially the Malaysian tradition will vanished sooner or later if this actions goes on.in my life,i had never seen parents motivation or to be exact their spirit in sake to introduce this traditional games on their children minds.when i sat near those kids,i had asked them one simple question,'hey.. what are you playing?ever thinking about playing tops? or kites?',and so these kids answered,'uh..no.we do not know how to play them.'.simple question from me is answered within seconds.

i had been watching them playing for approximately 30 minutes and began to roll my cigarettes.next to me is a cup of tea nearly turn cold and after a few sips,i began to smoke.asking them for more this time,'what kind of game is that?,seems so harsh and unforgiving",and they said,'well,we are in zombie killing spree,so we had to shot them '.'you do not afraid?',i added, and he said back fasts,'no.we enjoyed it!'.frankly,i was amazed.

its been a while watching their emotionally hands on those joysticks, and i was knocked again by the pastime memory when i was a kid about 12 years ago.back then,we don't have any fancy game console to play with.it's all about enjoying wonderful outdoor games!.my age was 9 year old when i bought my first tops.it costs about 40 cent, but for me that was a 40 cent of major enjoyment!.for the money i paid,i got 1 top,and a tangled lace.this lace is used as mechanism to operate the tops.this 3/4 oval liked shape had a 2 inch nail over the bottom striking at the center of the tops.

how to play them?.it was quite easy to play it with the nail went down-sided,but it was quite tricky when you want to play with it's nail went upside.not to be cocky, but  i had mastered the skill in just few weeks of time. it was so cool, and when the other kids watched me throwing my tops, they just went amazed. that's was the truly definition of games for me. you played it,you got to feel it,and you can hold it forever as you want it as your remembrance that once upon a time ago,you was just a kid!.

p/s-those two kiddos was good.real good.damn!
